Report urges Government to boost investment for safer roads.

A new report is urging the Department for Transport to ‘revolutionise’ Britain’s roads by introducing a nationwide ban on pavement parking, incorporating cycle training into the national curriculum, setting a default 20mph speed limit in urban areas, and retraining police officers

Published by The Bikeability Trust and Living Streets, the report highlights that limited public awareness of the 2022 Highway Code updates is leading to tensions among different road users.

A YouGov poll commissioned for the report found that fewer than two-thirds of adults could correctly answer a question about pedestrian priority in the Highway Code, while non-cyclists were 50% less likely than cyclists to answer correctly.
