Don’t Put Drugs in the Driving Seat
THINK! Campaign Returns This Summer

THINK! is bringing back its ‘Don’t Put Drugs in the Driving Seat’ campaign this summer, reminding young drivers of the serious risks and potentially life-changing consequences of driving under the influence of drugs.
In 2025, 21,791 people were convicted of drug-driving offences in England and Wales, with convictions having steadily increased over the past decade. Young men are particularly at risk, accounting for around 90% of drivers impaired by drugs in collisions, while four in ten are aged between 17 and 29.
Despite these risks, overconfidence and a tendency to underestimate the dangers remain a concern. Research shows that 41% of young men believe it is acceptable to drive after taking drugs if they ‘feel fine’, while 51% say they know someone who drives after using drugs.
First launched in 2025, THINK!’s ‘Don’t Put Drugs in the Driving Seat’ campaign returns this summer to challenge these attitudes and encourage safer choices behind the wheel. The campaign highlights the dangers of drug driving and the devastating consequences it can have for drivers, passengers and other road users.
Alongside existing campaign materials, this summer’s activity includes new animated content and statistics-led assets designed to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions and encourage young drivers—particularly those most at risk—to think twice before getting behind the wheel after taking drugs.
