The 2035 petrol/diesel car ban could be ditched

Proposed changes to driving laws may include abandoning the 2035 car ban and eliminating grants for electric vehicles. The Alliance of British Drivers insists on the complete and permanent removal of the 2035 deadline for banning the sale of internal combustion engine vehicles.

As per its website, the organization seeks to “challenge the misinformation propagated by various individuals regarding private vehicle usage” and to “advocate for freedom of choice in transportation methods.” In September, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced plans to relax several green policies as part of a “fresh approach” aimed at shielding “financially strained British households” from “unfair expenses.”

“This isn’t ‘free money’; it’s funded by hardworking individuals in this nation who are already facing challenges. We’ve had sufficient.” The Alliance of British Drivers (ABD) is a voluntary motoring advocacy group “owned and governed by its members,” who it identifies as “representative of the majority of road users in the UK.”

Whilst there are some proven long-term benefits from green energy, the truth is that a force to electric in such a small amount of time is not only extremely expensive but also extremely unrealistic. As many technicians have already stated, a 2060-2070 date for the ban of combustion vehicles is much more likely than the already planned 2035 date.

In the cost of living crisis, billions of pounds being spent on green energy with no real current benefits is the last thing the public is asking for, and the infrastructure has an extremely long way to go before we could even consider a major transition to Electric
