Increased cost for older cars

For cars registered before March 1, 2001, there are notable differences in tax regulations. Instead of being determined by CO2 emissions, taxation is solely determined by engine size. Cars with engines smaller than 1.5 litres (equivalent to ‘not over 1549cc’) are subject to an annual tax of £200, while larger engines face a tax of £325.
