Study suggests car safety tech has “worrisome blind spot” for high-vis
A study has revealed that high-visibility clothing and reflective strips might actually make pedestrians and cyclists less detectable to automated crash prevention systems.
Automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems—standard on all new vehicles—are designed to apply the brakes when a potential collision is detected and the driver fails to react in time.
“These results indicate that some manufacturers need to fine-tune their pedestrian automatic emergency braking systems,” said IIHS President David Harkey.
